Are you getting used to the "new normal'?
Over the past week, I’ve learned how to manage home-schooling my 4 kiddos, while trying to get some work done myself. I've submitted 4 project proposals for future potential work (who knows if it will happen, or not??).
I’ve surrendered to the absence of restaurants, cafes, shopping, yoga classes and live community dance. I've cooked six new vegetarian recipes and trying to plan my twins 13th bday party 🥳 (self-isolation style).
But, most significantly, I've experienced the deaths of two people who inspired me and touched my life greatly. 🦋
Perhaps you’ve experienced some of the same?
I’ve also had touching conversations with some of you about your challenges and breakthroughs – both professional and personal – over the past week, as many of them are now under the same ‘sheltering in place’.
Like many of us, they are grappling with major changes to life-as-usual:
• fears for the safety of their loved ones who live far away
• loss of a spouse’s income
• re-adjusting to kids at home and/or college-aged children at home
• uncertainty of the new best use of their time at work
• pivoting business models
• getting sick themselves
We are also finding big and small ways to appreciate the pattern interruption that our efforts to adjust to COVID safety protocols has provided…
• deeper conversations
• spontaneous dance parties
• virtual coffee dates
• going outdoors at lunchtime
The bottom line is, we’re all in this together. And over the next few weeks (months?) we will each face unforeseen hardships and unforeseen joys.
